Getting started
What is Orbit Connect?
Orbit Connect is a Shopify app that creates GST tax invoices for Indian Shopify stores. It also issues credit notes, prepares GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and IFF working data, supports e-invoicing through your own GSP account, delivers invoices to customers, and connects to Odoo and Zoho Books with a Tally export.
It is software, not tax or legal advice. Your accountant is still the person to confirm rates, HSN codes and returns.
Who is Orbit Connect for?
Shopify merchants who sell in India, to consumers (B2C) and to businesses (B2B), and the accountants who review their books. It also suits teams who run Odoo, Zoho Books or Tally alongside Shopify.
It is built around Indian GST: GSTIN, HSN/SAC codes, CGST, SGST and IGST, place of supply and GSTR working data.
How do I install it, and what do I need?
Orbit Connect installs on your Shopify store from an install link in your account on this site, and then opens inside your Shopify admin. Its launch checklist walks you through adding your business and GST details, at least one GST registration, and HSN codes for your products. Automatic invoicing stays off until you switch it on.
You need a Shopify store and admin access to it. A few features need an account of your own: e-invoicing needs a GST Suvidha Provider (GSP), WhatsApp delivery needs a WhatsApp Business (Cloud API) account, custom email needs an SMTP account, and the Odoo integration needs an Odoo instance with API access.
Plans and billing
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. If you cancel during the trial you are not charged.
What do the plans cost?
There are four plans, billed monthly: Startup $4.99, Basic $14.99, Growth $39.99 and Advanced $49.90. Prices are shown in US dollars, and there is no annual pricing today.
Each plan includes everything in the plan before it, plus more. The pricing page lists exactly what is in each one.
What happens if I go over my plan's order limit?
Each plan is sized for a number of orders a month: Startup up to 100, Basic up to 300, Growth up to 1,200 and Advanced up to 5,000. Today that figure is a guide, not a hard limit. Nothing in the app stops you creating invoices once you pass it. Pick the plan that fits your usual monthly volume.
How does billing work, and can I cancel?
A plan is a monthly subscription for one Shopify store. Billing details, including how and when you are charged and any taxes that apply, are shown at checkout before you confirm.
You can cancel from your account, and cancelling during the free trial means you are not charged. What happens to charges and access after that is set out in the refund and cancellation policy.
GST and compliance
How does Orbit Connect decide the GST rate on an invoice line?
In this order: the GST rate set on the product, then a rate you set for one of its collections, then the tax Shopify calculated for that line, then your store's default rate. You can state a rate once for a collection, for example a shampoo collection, and it applies to every product in it. If a product sits in several collections that have rules, the highest rate applies.
Prices can be treated as tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive, and you can choose to ignore Shopify's tax and use Orbit Connect's own rates only. Rates and HSN codes are yours to confirm with your accountant. Orbit Connect applies what you set.
Does Orbit Connect file my GST returns?
No. It prepares working data for you and your accountant: GSTR-1 and IFF as JSON or CSV, plus a GSTR-3B summary and an HSN summary as CSV. The data is validated first, and the GSTR-1 and IFF downloads are blocked while validation errors remain.
The files are shaped like the GST offline tool's format but are not a government-certified export. Have your tax professional check them before you file.
Does it support e-invoicing?
For businesses that need e-invoicing, yes. The app checks your B2B invoices for the fields the invoice registration portal (IRP) requires, and can submit invoices and e-credit notes through a GST Suvidha Provider (GSP) connection that you set up yourself. It does not connect to the IRP directly, so you need your own GSP account.
Whether e-invoicing applies to you depends on your turnover, and your accountant can tell you. We have not published a list of tested GSPs yet, so if e-invoicing is essential to you, contact us before you subscribe.
Delivery and integrations
How do customers receive their invoice?
Invoices go out by email as a PDF, sent automatically once you turn that on. Customers can also download them from the order status page in their Shopify customer account, and you can add a secure invoice link to your order-confirmation email.
WhatsApp sends come from an order's invoice page in the app, and need the customer's consent to be recorded first. Email can go out from your own domain using your own SMTP account. Customers who have opted out are skipped.
How does WhatsApp delivery work?
You connect your own WhatsApp Business (Cloud API) account in the app by entering its IDs and access token. When you send an invoice from its order page, the customer receives the PDF with a short message you can edit.
WhatsApp's own rules apply. As the app sends it, a message is delivered only to a customer who has messaged your number in the last 24 hours, and Meta bills its charges to you, not to Orbit Connect.
Which accounting and ERP tools does it work with?
Odoo, Zoho Books and Tally, on the Advanced plan. For Odoo, you push invoices and credit notes for a date range, and each one is sent with its customer, sale order and delivery. You need an Odoo instance with API access. For Zoho Books, you connect your organization and sync invoices and credit notes. For Tally, you download an XML voucher file and import it into TallyPrime. That is a file export, not a live link.
Advanced also includes API keys for fetching an order's invoice link. Other tools are not supported today.
Data and privacy
What customer data does Orbit Connect store?
What an invoice needs: order details, and the customer's name, address, email, phone number and GSTIN where they apply. Names, contact details, addresses and GSTINs are encrypted before they are stored. You choose how long documents are kept, seven years by default, and you can record customers' consent and opt-outs.
Orbit Connect does not sell personal data or use it for advertising. The app asks Shopify for permission to read orders, customers, fulfillments and locations, and to write to orders and products, which it uses for GST and HSN details on products and an invoice link on orders.
How do I ask for my data to be deleted?
If you bought from a store that uses Orbit Connect, ask that store. It decides how your data is used, and Shopify passes data requests on through its privacy tools. If you have an account on this site, you can delete it from your account page or contact us.
